After an ASW exercise with Scamp south of Manila Bay, Carpenter arrived at Subic Bay on 24 September to have her ECM antenna repaired. Departing Hawaii on 2 July 1962, the destroyer arrived at Yokosuka 10 days later. In actual fact, a profitable health regimen isn’t complete with out relaxation days. Her fourth cruise started on 4 January 1956, when the destroyer set sail for the Western Pacific. With repairs complete on 31 January 1973, the warship moved out of dry dock and officially shifted her homeport to San Francisco.
